The World’s Waiting Room

In April 2010 I was stranded in New York due to the Icelandic volcano erupting and blocking off all air traffic. I overstayed my visa waiver and had to register myself at the USCIS in Lower Manhattan.

That waiting room had seen at least one person from every country in the world, sitting and waiting here at some point before me.

I drew this in January 2017 after Trump released the first version of his Muslim ban, in solidarity with all the people that are stuck in these waiting rooms all around the world.
